LVN Scholarships and Grants
Are you interested in a nursing career but need help with the tuition? If so, do not worry! There are many grants and scholarships that can help you get the education you want. While the list of scholarships and grants that are currently available is quite extensive, you will find a few of the more popular ones described below.
Federal Pell Grants
The U.S. Department of Education offers several programs to help students fund their education, and the most popular of these programs is the Pell Grant program. For you to be eligible for a Pell Grant, you must be attending an accredited school at least half time, and you must prove that you are in financial need.
Typically, you can prove your financial status by submitting your and/or your parents' tax forms to the Department of Education. If you do not qualify for a Pell Grant, do not fret! The USDE also offers low-interest student loans, trustee awards and work study programs.
The Caroline Holt Nursing Scholarship
Each year, the Daughters of the American Revolution Organization offers up to $150,000 in the form of scholarships to students pursuing various degrees. The Caroline Holt Nursing Scholarship awards several lucky recipients with $1,000 that can be used for tuition and other costs associated with nursing school.
The Nurse Corps Scholarship
The Nurse Corps Scholarship is a program hosted by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that awards full tuition to nursing students who meet their requirements. Under the program, for you to be eligible for full tuition, you must agree to work at a critical shortage facility for two years after graduation.
The Nurse Practitioner Student Scholarship
The American College for Nurse Practitioners and the American Journal of Nurse Practitioners created this scholarship for outstanding students pursuing a degree in the nursing field. Each of these awards are $1,000, and you must be enrolled in an approved nursing program with a 3.4 GPA to qualify for one.
The School Nursing Scholarship
The School Nursing Scholarship was created by the American School Health Association for high school and college students who wish to pursue careers in nursing. Each award is $1,000, and you must be enrolled in an approved nursing program for you to be eligible for the scholarship.
